Quarter Window Robotic Priming Assembly Cell

This robotic priming cell was designed as an integration on an automotive glass encapsulation line. In order for the molding to adhere permanently to the window the glass needs to be primed prior to being molded.

This particular cell runs multiple models of windows. It is our goal to make our equipment capable of running multiple models with reduced changeover times for a robotic cell. Two major benefits to making “universal” cells are: minimizing capital expenditures for future models and floor space. To elaborate:

  • Minimizing capital expenditures for future models–adding another program to a cell like this is fairly inexpensive compared to the cost of building a whole new cell.
  • And floor space–a universal cell allows many different programs to run without taking up additional floor space for each model, which is a precious commodity in most plants.
